Sydney is blessed with one of the most spectacular natural harbours in the world. A short opening between the North and South Heads gives way to waterways, secluded bays and beautiful harbour foreshore areas. Today Sydney Harbour is alive with yachts, boats and other marine activities, but the natural splendour remains, with protected areas and parklands – such as the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Sydney Harbour National Park – preserving the quintessential rocky sandstone and gumtree greenery of Australian waterways. One of the best ways to experience the beauty of Sydney Harbour is to get out into the fresh air and do some of the well-trodden and well signposted Sydney Harbour walks. So get out of your Sydney accommodation, get your walking shoes on and explore the hidden treasures of the Harbour. Here are a few of the best walks on offer.

Take a Sydney Harbour walk and enjoy the view

Spit Bridge to Manly along Middle Harbour. This 9.5 kilometre track from the Spit Bridge in Sydney’s Middle Harbour to Manly beach offers walkers a backstage and varied look at Sydney Harbour’s northern foreshore. The walk weaves through some of Sydney’s best harbourside real estate, past gun emplacements, hidden beaches, subtropical rainforest, Aboriginal middens and tracts of wild coastal heath. Pack your swimming costume and have a dip in one of the many bays and beaches, and enjoy a meal or a drink in Manly after the walk. Ferries and buses are available in Manly to take walkers back to the city or the Spit Bridge.

Federation Walk. Federation Walk follows the dramatic sandstone cliffs between Dover Heights and Vaucluse that form the Southern headland of Sydney Harbour. The walk begins with the dramatic scenery of the cliff edge that scales off into the vast Pacific Ocean. Further on, walkers can enjoy unsurpassed vistas of the Harbour, particularly Watsons Bay where the walk ends and ferries and buses can be taken to various Sydney destinations. This is a great walk to blow away the cobwebs!

Glebe Foreshore Walk. If you’re looking for a Sydney Harbour walk that caters to pedestrians, cyclists and dogs then the Glebe Foreshore Walk from Bicentennial Park to the Sydney Fish Markets at Pyrmont is for you. The path links over 27 hectares of open space and walkers can enjoy unimpeded access to Rozelle Bay and Blackwattle Bay. The off-leash area for dogs – from Pope Paul Reserve to Ferry Road – makes it a walk that is popular with those looking for a relaxing stroll as well.

Whether you’re a veteran Sydneysider or a visitor, the splendour of Sydney Harbour never fails to amaze. Guests to Sydney staying in inner Sydney – in Surry Hills accommodation, for example – will enjoy getting some fresh air and seeing Sydney’s natural attractions. And for local residents, it’s always good to get out there and remind yourself why you live in the beautiful city of Sydney. So get walking!

As a world city, Sydney boasts a thriving fashion and design scene and world class shopping. Sydneysiders are notoriously well-dressed, and local designers have achieved sartorial success both at home and abroad. Because of the city’s size, however, deciding on where to go and which type of shops to target when your wardrobe is crying out for some updating can be a daunting task. Sydney offers as much fashion and shopping diversity as it does different shopping precincts in which they can be found. So here’s a quick guide to help you shop-til-you-drop in Sydney. Whether you’re looking for a designer, boutique, mall, outlet or vintage shopping experience, Sydney satisfies all shopping tastes.

Designer. Sydney offers access to local and international designers for luxury and high-end shoppers. While designer stores and boutiques are scattered throughout the city, there are a few areas which are notorious for designer shopping. Queen Street in Woollahra is known for its up-scale local designer boutiques, while Oxford Street in Paddington also houses some designers. For international brands, head to the Sydney CBD. The Strand Arcade on Pitt Street is also a beautiful, heritage building that is home to an array of luxurious brands and goods. Those looking for quality goods will be looking for a quality hotel. Sydney offers a range of comfortable and luxurious accommodation options.

Boutique. For boutique, innovative fashion finds, Oxford Street in Paddington is popular amongst Sydneysiders and visiting guests. The quirky, funky and stylish Surry Hills area (head for Crown Street) is also a haven for boutique shopping style gurus on the cutting edge of fashion. Other areas known for fun boutique shopping include Darlinghurst and Balmain.

Shopping Centres. Looking for staple goods or the wares of established brands? Sydney shopping centres will offer reasonably priced, fashionable clothing with the added bonus of it all being conveniently located in one place. The biggest Sydney shopping centres are the Westfield chains, which can be found in Bondi Junction, Chatswood, Hornsby and the Centrepoint complex in the city.

Outlet. There are a number of factory shopping outlets in Sydney which offer drastically reduced clothing prices from designer and retail brands. The two most popular are the Direct Factory Outlet in Homebush (near the Olympic Park site) and the Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre in Birkenhead Point.

Vintage – Like the rest of the fashion world, Sydney is riding the vintage wave, and Sydney op-shops and vintage clothing stores offer amazing fashion steals from times gone by. Such vintage and second-hand clothing shops can be found throughout the city of Sydney but for trendy and designer vintage pieces head to the inner city areas. Surry Hills, Darlinghurst, and Newtown are all popular for vintage clothing shopping. If you’re a vintage shopper visiting Sydney, choose from a range of Surry Hills hotel accommodations.

Whichever area of Sydney you live in or whatever shopping experience you seek while visiting the city, Sydney offers visitors and residents a varied shopping experience that caters to all tastes and styles.

For perfect pictures every time, follow these 10 simple tips for printing photos at home with a photo printer

1. Use photo paper: Pictures printed on standard copy paper won’t look like professional, lab-quality photos. Always use photo paper for printing your digital pictures at home. Note that there are two main types of photo paper, matte and glossy. Glossy photo paper makes for more vibrant colour prints, but it show fingerprints if handled frequently. Black and white pictures look especially striking when printed on matte photo paper.

2. Select the proper paper setting on your printer: Your printer’s paper settings control the amount of ink that’s put onto the page. The default setting is for standard paper. For optimal photo printing, select the “photo paper” setting or whatever setting most closely matches the paper you are using, such as “glossy.”

3. Don’t stack the photos: Your photos will still be wet when they come out of the printer. Remove each photo as it’s printed, set it to the side and give it plenty of time to dry. If you allow the photos to stack up on top of one another, the wet ink will blur and smudge. While the photos will probably dry in less than an hour, the general guideline is to wait 24 hours before framing them.

4. Use ink and paper manufactured by the same company as your printer: Your photo printer is optimised to work with specific inks and papers. Although generic brands will work, your printer will perform best when you use ink and paper made by the same manufacturer.

5. Keep your printheads clean: Gently wipe off your printheads with a damp cloth if it has been a while since you’ve used your printer. Dried ink can clog the printheads, resulting in blotchy or incomplete ink transfer.

6. Select the right print resolution: Print resolution is measured in “dpi,” which stands for “dots per inch.” The higher the print resolution, the higher the quality of your printouts. For example, most printers have a “fast” or “draft” setting that prints quickly but at a low level of quality. Always choose the highest print resolution when printing out photos.

7. Utilise the print preview option: Preview your photo in the “print preview” mode before printing it out. That way you can see if the finished product is going to look the way you want it to. If not, you can make the necessary corrections, and you won’t have wasted any ink or photo paper.

8. Keep your drivers up to date: Drivers are what enable your printer to communicate with your computer. Manufacturers update these drivers from time to time. To keep your printer in peak operating condition, be sure to download the latest updates.9. Match megapixels to picture size: The more pixels an image contains, the more detailed it is. Trying to enlarge a photo with a low number of megapixels results in a blocky, “pixilated” look. For example, a 2 megapixel picture can be printed as a 4×6. To look good as an 8×10, however, the image should have at least 8 megapixels.10. Crop before printing: If you really only want to print the subject without all the surroundings, simply crop down the image. Not only do you wind up with more attractive photos, you also save ink and paper.

What are the different types of savings accounts?

There are various types of full service and online savings accounts available through banks and credit unions throughout Australia. Understanding the various options available to you will help you choose the savings account that will best suit your needs while earning you the maximum amount of interest on your money. The most basic type of savings account is a standard account that you can use to store money that you don’t plan on spending for an extended period of time. Almost all banks will pay you interest on the money you place in your savings account. The time period that is selected for the savings account often determines how high the interest rate will be. In general, the longer you plan to leave your money untouched, the more interest you will earn on it.The concept of online banking has been around for quite a while now. You can log onto a website and review your recent purchases and deposits, for example. Internet banking has been taken to a whole new level with the emergence of the online savings account. Typically online savings accounts offer a considerably higher interest rate because the financial institution has minimum overhead. There are none of the expenses associated with operating bank branches. All of the transactions are done online. You can deposit and withdraw money through a transaction account you have connected to the online savings account.

Bonus savings accounts enable you to earn even more interest on the money you save. With a bonus savings account, you earn a baseline interest rate the same as you would with a standard savings account. However, in addition to the standard interest rate, the bank also pays you bonus interest if you meet certain conditions, such as limiting your withdrawals to one per month or making a specified minimum deposit each month. You can also find savings accounts with no fees. A no fee savings account means that you don’t pay maintenance or withdrawal fees. Similar is the low fee savings account, which, as the name suggests, involves fees, but they are smaller than typical bank fees.

Where can I compare savings accounts online?

There are a lot of savings accounts to choose from, and even more websites to search through in order to find the one you want. Save yourself time by using a financial product website that lets you compare savings accounts. On Mozo.com.au, you can quickly and easily compare all types of savings accounts.

To give a contemporary photo an old-fashioned feel, try shooting in monochrome. A picture done entirely in black and white or sepia tones achieves on old time look. Rather than editing the picture through a computer program, many digital cameras feature a setting that enables you to actually shoot the images directly in monochrome. The monochrome setting option simplifies the process of creating these stunning pictures. No software or special knowledge of photo editing is required to produce these stunning images. Depending on what type of digital camera you have, the monochrome setting will be located in the My Colours, Colour or Picture Style settings menu.

Types of monochrome settings

Once you’ve located the monochrome setting, you will see that you have different options. Black and white and sepia settings are offered by most digital cameras. Colour monochrome settings, such as green and blue, are included in some cameras as well. The more advanced cameras enable you to enhance the monochrome mode with various coloured filters. These filters allow you to achieve a number of effects. For instance, you can recreate the effect of a red filter over black and white film. Also, any colours in the subject that are the same colour as the filter can be selectively lightened.

Choosing a setting

Consider the emotion you want the photo to evoke. Sepia tones create a different feel than black and white, and vice versa. For example, a sepia-toned image will present a softer look, reminiscent of antique photos. Black and white, on the other hand, is ideal for photographing strong structural elements for stark contrasts.

Choosing your subject

Landscapes and city scenes tend to feature strong structural elements, such as buildings. Shadows actually enhance these subjects. Sunlight casts the lines and angles with dramatic patterns. To record the most detail possible, use an ISO setting of 200 or less. Low ISO settings best capture the shadows and structures that make for striking monochrome photos.

Gentle, more romantic settings also lend themselves well to monochrome mode. A dream-like or nostalgic mood can be evoked through monochrome photography. Subtle nuances emerge through the variations in tone.

Portraits, of both pets and people, are excellent subjects for monochrome photographs, particularly those done in black and white. You can vary the effect by changing the lighting. Soft light minimises the appearance of blemishes. Directional lighting, lighting which emanates from a single source, accentuates facial features.

Tips for shooting in monochrome

As explained above, the monochrome setting directly captures monochrome images. No colour information is recorded. While colour photos can be made monochrome with computer software, a photo taken in the monochrome setting cannot be reverted to colour. That is, unless you take the pictures in RAW format.

Try using your digital camera’s flash, whether inside or outside, when taking monochrome photos. Although the flash might washout an image taken in colour, that same flash can cast desirable dramatic shadows in monochrome.

Experiment with the different filters before you start taking photos. Your efforts will be better directed if you first know the effect that each filter achieves.

Moving water is a compelling subject for photographs. You can capture the beauty of flowing or falling water in a number of different ways. For instance, you may choose to express its fluid motion, or you might decide to compose a shot where water droplets appear frozen in mid-air. Although photographing a continuously moving subject may seem intimidating at first, capturing water in motion really only requires knowledge of a few simple techniques.

How to get started

Getting started is simple. All you need is a digital camera that features a wide range of shutter speeds and a tripod. A neutral density filter is useful but not necessary.

Creamy, fluid cascades: Taking long exposures of water

Before you start shooting, assess your surroundings. Take note of the lighting. Are you facing the sun? Are you shooting from a shaded area? Next, decide what you want to photograph. You can shoot the entire cascade, or you can choose to focus in on just one area. You may even want to include the waterfall’s surroundings. Once you’ve made these decisions, it’s time to take a few “test shots” to determine the best angle. Set up your shot by mounting your digital camera on the tripod. Either a tele lens or wide lens will work. Be sure that your camera and the tripod are stable. Vibrations or movement while the shutter is open can ruin the shot. With your tripod in place, it’s time to follow these 5 steps:1.Set your camera to either manual or shutter-priority AE (S or Tv)2.Set the ISO to 100 or less3.Select a small lens aperture, between f/11 to f/22 is best4.Select a slow shutter speed – note that it takes an exposure of at least five seconds to achieve a good level of blurring. The longer the exposure, the creamier the water will appear in the photo. 5.Set the self-timerReview the finished product and make any necessary adjustments to your camera settings and/or tripod location.

How to freeze moving water

The key to freezing a water droplet mid-fall is a fast shutter speed (at least 1/500 seconds), bright lighting and a quick reaction time. In addition to droplets, you can use this technique to capture images such as a wave breaking on a rock or the spray created by a waterfall. The faster the shutter speed, the more sharp and defined each water droplet will be. As mentioned above, bright conditions are ideal, and you’ll want to shoot at either f/5.6 or f/4. If the lighting is dim, shoot at least 1/500, possibly even faster. You’ll also want to increase your camera’s ISO or use a flash. You’ll get the best results if you’re no more than 2 metres away from the subject because most flashes can’t illuminate beyond that distance. Quick tips for taking superb photos of moving water:1.Protect your digital camera from splashing water and sprays. Not only can water damage your camera, water droplets on your lens may show up in your photos. Wipe your camera frequently with a soft, lint-free cloth. Store your camera in a dry bag, and for extra protection, pick up a sachet of silica gel at your local camera shop. It will soak up any residual moisture. 2.When taking shallow depth-of-field photographs, the goal is to blur only the water. Sharp surroundings make a beautiful contrast to the flowing water. To accomplish this look, use a small lens aperture – f/11 or smaller if you have a digital SLR and f/8 if you’re using a compact digicam. 3.Your camera’s exposure meter can be tricked by white, bubbly water. To fix this problem, select a spot or partial metering setting. Then, measure the exposure on a mid-tone area located within the subject. Something like a tree or rock will work well.

Visitors arriving by air to Sydney will land at Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport, Australia’s largest, busiest and most significant commercial airport. In terms of physical size, Sydney is a sprawling metropolis, meaning that depending on your holiday itinerary, you could be heading a number of different directions once you exit the airport. For those heading to the CBD, the airport is located an easy 8km away, and how to get there is just one of things visitors should consider when arriving in Sydney. Like any other international portal, Kingsford Smith Airport offers visitors a range of accommodation, transport and activity booking services. Those who have not organised their stay in Sydney should take advantage of these services prior to leaving the airport. To ease the arrival experience, take these things into consideration before you touch down Down Under:

What time of day will you be arriving? When planning your arrival in Sydney, consider what time of day you will be landing. Due to the distance between Australia and many other overseas destinations, and in light of different time zones, you may be arriving at the same time you left! Sydney’s roads are notoriously bad, so knowing what time of day you are arriving will allow you to decide whether you need to organise transport, or if a cab or public transport will be easy to catch. If you’re arriving on a Friday night, for example, it’s likely that traffic will be terrible, and having a prearranged transfer organised may save you a long and expensive cab fare.

Accommodation. Many visitors will have pre-arranged their accommodation when arriving in Sydney, but for those who have not, there are a number of areas and accommodation types to choose from once you land. Accommodation and hotel boards and booking services are available at the airport, but it’s a good idea to have a vague idea of the area, price and type of hotel you will be looking to stay in. If you’re looking for cheap accommodation, Surry Hills and other inner city suburbs are a good place to start.

How you will get to your accommodation. Once you’ve organised your accommodation, plan how you will get you (and your luggage) there from the airport. There are a number of transport options to choose from.

Train – Thereare railstations located at both the International and Domestic Terminals, and the Airport Link service offers the newly arrived a fast and convenient way to reach the centre of Sydney. Trains run approximately every 10 minutes and the journey into the city takes only 13 minutes. Once in the city, passengers can transfer to other suburban railway lines. NB: With many escalators, stairs and long railway platforms, travellers using the train should consider whether they will physically be able to carry their luggage.

Taxi – There are a number of taxis which will transfer visitors to their destination or accommodation at any arrival time. For those arriving at night or who have pre-arranged their accommodation, it’s a good idea to check if yours is a hotel with airport shuttle – an easier, no-fuss option that will save you the cab fare and the stress of figuring out where to go.

Hire Car – Sydney Airport has an extensive range of hire cars available for eligible drivers. Hire car company information booths are easily visible on arrival.Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport is easily navigable with a range of services to accommodate the arriving traveller. Once you’ve successfully arrived and found your way, you’ll be free to enjoy all the attractions, natural beauty and sublime weather that Sydney has to offer!

Although a large number of people are swearing off using credit for any kind of purchase, mindful of the credit crisis spreading across the Western world like wildfire, there are still many for whom their “flexible friend” is an indispensable weapon in their financial armoury. For high-value purchases, often cash is simply not an option, while on overseas travel using your credit card can work out a lot cheaper than paying exchange surcharges every time you want to withdraw money.

For those of us who are happy to continue with plastic, it is instructive to compare credit cards and see which will give us the better deal. The two most prominent credit card brands on the planet are Visa and MasterCard. These two rivals have been battling for the larger market share ever since the credit revolution began a few decades back. Unless you are lucky enough to qualify for preferential banking offers, any credit card you are issued will most likely come from one of these companies. The issuing bank will have the most space on the card, with its name and logo having the most prominence, while the iconic and ever familiar MasterCard or Visa logo also be visible somewhere on the card.

As far as the use of the card goes, there is very little difference between these two. Both are widely accepted wherever you go in the world – this is in the merchant’s interest, as not accepting a certain type of credit card will see them miss business, however incremental this loss. As a rule of thumb, if you are traveling overseas it is worth keeping in mind that Europe seems to favor Visa, while the USA is more receptive to MasterCard. The UK seems to have equal provision for both, as do the most popular tourist destinations.

Comparing Visa and MasterCard is rather like comparing two different kinds of bottled water. Both do a perfectly good job for what they are, it is largely a matter of personal taste as to which you select. What you should look out for is the long-term interest rate on each card, rather than any special offers that you are offered. These special offers will often be enough to make a person sign up for a card, but just remember that the bank has to make their money from somewhere, so an excellent initial interest rate may well give way to a less-than-satisfactory one later on.Credit cards that are more exclusive do exist – the American Express name is known worldwide as a byword for financial big hitting and is often mentioned by people looking to impress with the size of their bank balance. While the AmEx and Diners Club cards used to be used as “charge cards” – with the balance needing to be paid in full each month, both do now allow the holder to carry a balance from month to month. There are, however, both annual fees and credit scoring requirements that put both beyond the reach of many people – particularly in the present climate.

Today’s printers have more to offer than just simple document print-outs. PIXMA printers feature a number of special settings and functions that allow you to make one-of-a-kind items. Here are six creative ways to use your PIXMA printer:

1. High-quality Documents

With a PIXMA, it is no longer necessary to visit a specialty print shop to get high-quality presentation materials. Students can ace their school projects with sharp, colour documents. PIXMA printers also produce documents appropriate for office use. Preparing for a major presentation at work can be done from the comfort of your own home with your family’s PIXMA.

2. Lab-quality photos

PIXMA printers can be used to get your photos off of your digital camera and out on display. Photos printed with a PIXMA are lab-quality and suitable for framing. You can also put together beautiful photo albums. To print your own lab-quality photos with your PIXMA, follow these 5 easy steps:a.Open the Easy-PhotoPrint EX software that came with your printerb. Choose the photo you want to printc. Select the paper sized. Choose a layoute. Click printThe finished product is as crisp and glossy as photos printed in a lab, but it takes only a fraction of the time.

3. 3D Paper Craft

One way to get creative with your PIXMA printer is designing and making 3-D paper crafts. You can enjoy an afternoon of family fun or create decorations for your home or office.A popular 3D paper craft is doll making. By using photos printed with your PIXMA, you can turn yourself into a 3D doll. Print, cut and glue – that’s all there is to it. 3D paper crafting isn’t limited to dolls, of course. Use your PIXMA to make 3D animals, buildings, globes, automobiles and much more.

4. Customised Shirt

Now you can have a shirt featuring any design you want. With your PIXMA printer and a t-shirt transfer, you can make your own customised t-shirt. You don’t need any special software. You can create your t-shirt design using Word or PowerPoint.Once you’ve got the design ready, it’s time to print. Load your printer with the transfer sheet the same way you would a normal sheet of paper. Select the T-shirt transfer setting on your PIXMA printer. Then, simply iron the design onto a plain t-shirt, and it’s ready to wear.

5. CD/DVD printing

Rather than just printing CD labels and covers, your PIXMA printer lets you print on the CD itself. Note that this project requires special printable discs. Regular CDs and DVDs will not work.Create the design using the Easy-PhotoPrint EX software that comes with the PIXMA. You will see a series of easy-to-follow instructions for designing the CD/DVD image. Insert the printable disc and press the print button. In just a couple of minutes you’ll have an image printed directly onto the disc.

6. Poster Printing

Your favorite photo or other image can become a full-size poster with help from a PIXMA printer. Start by selecting “Poster Printing” from the “Page setup” options. When you reach the “Pay layout” options, choose your size. The PIXMA can print anywhere in the range of 2A4 sheets up to 16 A4 sheets. Press print. Once all of the sheets have printed, do any necessary trimming, arrange the sheets and glue them together. These six ideas are just the beginning. Continue to explore your PIXMA printer’s features and functions to see what amazing things you can create.

7. Create origami

Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. A PIXMA printer can be used to create origami templates. With bright, bold colours, you can make origami art for decorating your home or giving as gifts. Creative Park is an excellent source of origami templates. You’ll find lots of fun animal templates there. Another option is to use your PIXMA to print a sheet of paper featuring a traditional Japanese design. You can then use the beautifully decorated paper to create any piece of origami you like. Once you’ve found a template you want to use, simply download it and print it out with your PIXMA. Then you’re ready to start folding!

8. Calendar printing

Use your PIXMA to create a personalised calendar for your home or office. All you need to get started is the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX software that came with your PIXMA printer. There are a wide variety of templates to choose from. Select the one you like best, and you’ll be given easy-to-follow, step-by-step directions. You can use your most cherished photos or other images. Family calendars make a great gift for grandparents and other relatives. Or surprise a friend with a calendar featuring their favourite celebrity or athlete. With the high quality of PIXMA printing, your calendar will look as professional as anything you can buy in the store.

Make scrapbooking easy

9. Scrapbook kits

Store your memories in a fun and unique way with scrapbook kits from Creative Park. Scrabooking is a fun and entertaining alternative to regular photo albums. You can print out an entire kit based around a theme or holiday with your PIXMA. For example, Creative Park features kits for graduations, weddings, Halloween and Christmas. There are also a number of scrapbook accessories ideal for printing with your PIXMA, such as tags, borders and photo frames. PIXMA printers are even capable of printing out an entire sheet of scrapbook paper featuring vivid, colourful designs. Once you’ve printed all the pages and accessories, use your PIXMA to print out the photos you want to feature. Your PIXMA can print lab-quality photos. Just use your Easy-PhotoPrint EX software.

10. Sticker printing

A PIXMA can also be used to print out stickers. There is an almost endless range of uses for your stickers. Create convenient labels, enhance your scrapbooks or simply decorate some of the items around your house.

To get started, open up your Canon Easy-PhotoPrint EX software. Select the option for “stickers.” You’ll be given a series of prompts to follow. In no time at all, you’ll have professional looking stickers.

11. Camera and photo printing

PIXMA printers make it convenient to print photos directly off of your camera or mobile phone. With a PIXMA, there’s no need to upload your photos to a computer in order to print them. Some PIXMA printers also have the option to print from a memory card or your mobile phone without any need for a computer. Photo printing with a PIXMA is quick and convenient.

Applying for a home loan for the first time is a daunting task. With the instability of the economic and so much change in interest rates, locking into the wrong type of home loan could cost you a lot more than you can afford.

All financial matters require research and preparation, so the first thing you must do is compare home loans long before you consider applying for one. Choosing the right home loan is crucial so compare home loans to find terms and conditions that are favourable for you.

Applying for a home loan requires 5 key things. They are:

•Good credit history. When it comes to taking out loans, the banks need to know that you are not drowning in debt, or have serious financial issues like bankruptcy. Get your credit card debt in order and make sure you have a good credit rating by the time you apply for a home loan.

Tip: It’s imperative that you compare home loans before you apply because you want to maintain a good credit rating for your financial future.

•Secure income. Taking on a mortgage is a big responsibility and not everyone is financially capable of doing it well. The banks will always ask for income details (usually after tax) to check whether you can afford to take out a home loan. For example, if your sole income is an aged pension or a welfare package, chances are, you can’t afford a home loan.

•Assets and liabilities such as cars, other houses, furniture, boats, collectables, savings and investments will be considered by the banks. Again, this informs the banks of how capable you are of repaying the loan in light of your financial situation and the amount you borrowed.

•Choosing the right product. This is one of the most important things you need to consider. Do you want a variable, fixed home loan or split home loans? Offset accounts are also a good idea to manage your mortgage. Compare home loan to see what is best for you in terms of interest rates, exit fees and other terms and condition before you apply.

•Repayment options and frequencies. How you will pay money back and what is the minimum monthly repayment? Read the fine print when you compare home loans and see what is expected of you each month. Can you make extra repayments? This is useful if you have a bonus or if you have received a tax return and want to make additional repayments in order to reduce the interest accrued to your mortgage. The banks need to know that you can manage your finances and make repayments on time

Where can I compare home loans?
Heading online is the most useful way to compare home loans, especially home loan comparison websites like mozo.com.au. Save time by comparing dozens of home loans at once in the comfort of your own home and whenever it’s convenient for you.
