Be inspired, be inspiring, believe in yourself and pursue your dreams… This is the mantra which underpins Faye De Lanty’s debut collection for her label Love Chile (pronounced “Chyle” a 70’s slang word for child). It’s been a long term dream of Faye’s to have her own fashion label, but before she embarked on this journey she wanted to ensure her label had substance and reason and was in tune with her lifestyle and philosophy. Faye, a love child herself, is a lover of 70′s rock n’ roll and spirituality and has worked tirelessly to ensure her range truly embodies this vibe. The name Love Chile was born about a year ago when she was being true to her free spirit and running wild in LA and NYC.

The Run Wild My Love Chile range epitomises the hedonistic nature of the 70′s. The tees are designed to be a generous and sexy fit whilst the singlets have that true rock star quality – worn in and disheveled looking. The clothing range is made from 100% certified organic cotton, sourced and made here in Australia (YAY!). The designs are her own – Faye worked closely with her graphic designer to develop the unique images for her range. Combined with affirmation like statements, the wearer is bound to be empowered and feel confident. Faye says “Make this tee your own, stretch the neck, roll the sleeves or cut the hem off…. Tell your own story lady Love Chile. Wear it well!

To truly express your free spirit don a gorgeous hand plaited suede headband, adorned with sweet little, hand casted, American Indian trinkets, feathers or Swarovski crystal and beads. These funky headpieces can also be made to order for that special outfit and event. I’m thinking the races and standing out from the crowd at that party. Do your own thing, own it, wear it, make it yours!

My fav?? Hmm… a tough one, I’m sure on another day, in another mood I’d definitely chose another. However, today, I have to say it’s the free loving, crazy times inducing Run Wild My Love Chile tee. More and more t-shirts are becoming a staple wardrobe piece and what better tee to own and flaunt knowing that it was made with such passion, love and willingness to inspire.

In addition to all this fabulousness Love Chile has founded an alliance with the Butterfly Foundation, a community based charitable organisation that supports Australians with Eating Disorders and their carers, a cause Faye believes in wholeheartedly. Love Chile is set to release a special edition range to help raise funds and awareness for the Butterfly Foundation. Hand tie-dyed pieces will be available and proceeds will be donated to the Butterfly Foundation. Learn more about the precious efforts of the Butterfly foundation on their website http://www.thebutterflyfoundation.org.au/

Look out for Love Chile’s online fashion TV component coming shortly. This will feature styling and “inspirational” advice. Faye will also interview passionate, successful, inspiring women who will share with you their story and the paths they took to get to where they are today. More to come from this interesting young entrepreneur…

What girl doesn’t love a bit of Tiffany??? The exclusiveness, the romance, the prestige, the sweet little treasure inside that iconic “Tiffany blue” bag mmmmhmmm… most of us are entranced by it all sooner or later. Although, I’m not really a silver spoon girl myself, I have to admit that yesssss I do have one special piece from the Elsa Peretti range. But I’m a little disenchanted by the recent release of the Elsa Perretti lacquer bangle. It’s interesting to see that other than abacus beads and flooring they have found another use for Japanese hardwood. Anyone who is insane enough to pay $555 to flaunt a glossy, painted circle of wood as a wrist adornment has to write to me and give me one good reason as to why they made this purchase. I’m deeply intrigued as to who, given our volatile financial climate and the drive to minimise excessive purchases, would be wearing such accessories. One good reason does not include “because it came in a cute box with a white ribbon and a cute little blue bag” nor does, “I really wanted something from Tiffany’s and this was within my budget”. I’m convinced at least a half of Tiffany purchases are purely just to get the bag and the box. Given 10 minutes at my local Westfields I’m positive I could buy at least two similar looking bangles for less than a tenth of the Tiffany version.

It’s time to get ready for an evening out… I’m thinking after a day at the beach and that summer lovin’ vibe is in the air, all you want to slip into is a simple but sexy, comfy outfit. Right now I’m loving the jumpsuit revolution that’s quietly seeping into stores. OK, so I’m not really suggesting Elvis’ style is what we should be channeling, but he was certainly onto something. Though The King’s style of jumpsuit is definitely not what we need to be donning at the beachside bar, did you know he had around 120 of these creations??? If you’re heading to Memphis be sure to check out the exhibition

But perhaps we should look at the more stylised versions. Springing to mind is Yves Saint Laurent, the pioneer of the high fashion jumpsuit in the 70s. Ms Stella McCartney loves a jumpsuit and her Spring ’09 collection is sure to delight with some stunning onesies in soft silks and colours.

Whether it’s a jumpsuit, a onesie or a playsuit, be sure that your wardrobe houses one this season. They are versatile, decision minimal and can be dressed up or down. For that late lafternoon beverage in the sun, lose the plain ole’ flip flops and vamp it up with your calf wraping gladiators or some sassy heels for the evening affair.

The trend is laid back sexiness. The legs of the outfits can be long and languid, or harem-like; check out Katie Holmes’ new range. Or for the short all-in-ones, go for the relaxed and rompy, playful feel. Whichever you choose wear it with style. Avoid the floral prints in the short onesies unless you care to channel the preschooler look. As a piece of advice, make sure there’s plenty of room from your waist down to the inside leg as any unsightly riding up into “certain places” will kill the look completely… Oh and always allow for plenty of bathroom time…it’s all got to come off…

To find your grown up all-in-one check out Fleur Wood, Witchery, Seduce and Sportsgirl.
